Reusable Packaging
About the project

While driving to the airport one night in Nairobi, Kenya, Micah passed a row of tin houses. The walls of one of the homes had many holes cut into it, making a beautiful pattern of light. This inspired her to create a box with beautifully patterned holes so that when the outer rim of packaging was removed, it revealed a lantern that could be used over and over again.

The overall design is organic, relying heavily on natural shapes and greenery. The same floral shapes are used in the lantern cut-out, creating unity throughout the piece. The logo itself fits within a circle, tying in the organic nature of the piece as well as hinting toward community and togetherness, both things that the lantern aims to foster.
